KNOW ABOUT US

The Missionary Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles (SRA) are devoted to proclaiming the Word of God and sharing His compassionate love. Mary, under the title “Queen of the Apostles,” is our patroness.

Founded in Vienna, Austria, on 1 July 1923, the Congregation has grown worldwide, serving communities in Europe, Asia, and Africa, including Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, India, the Philippines, and Uganda.

“Come, let us build a world of hope.”

We go where people are  suffering, forgotten, or struggling ,  bringing love, healing, education, and hope.

We SRA Sisters:

  • Teach children who never dreamed of going to school

  • Care for the sick and abandoned

  • Stand with the poor, lonely, and vulnerable

  • Walk with youth, families, and communities in their faith journey

Our mission is simple but powerful: to reach those on the margins and help people discover dignity, purpose, and a future filled with possibility.

OUR LIFE

SRA MISSION IN UGANDA, AFRICA

Inspired by the motto of our Founder, Fr. Antonius Maria Bodewig ,“To become all things to all” The Missionary Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles (SRA) arrived in Uganda in 2007. This mission was initiated by the then Superior General Sr. Maria Goretti SRA and her Team. The pioneering sisters, Sr. Theresia Tremel, Sr. Olive, and Sr. Shashikala, began their mission in Malongwe, serving in medical, pastoral, and social ministries.

As the mission expanded, a second community, Fr. Bodewig Home, was opened in Jinja in 2009. From here, the sisters continued pastoral work in Fatima Parish and reached out to the slum areas of Soweto and Masese through educational and social programmes.

Fr Bodewig School was established in Masese, Jinja and now it has grown up to be Fr Bodewig Primary, St Mary’s Secondary School.

From these humble beginnings, the mission has grown into a dynamic presence in education, social outreach, health care, and pastoral ministry. Today, the sisters continue to accompany children, youth, families, and the most vulnerable, bringing hope and dignity through compassionate service.

REQUEST FOR SUPPORT

The Missionary Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles serve the most vulnerable in the slum communities of Jinja, Uganda. Through social outreach, care for street children, and community support, we work to restore dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging to women, children, and families living in poverty. Our mission is to walk with the poor and help them rediscover their worth and future.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT…

Our social ministry reaches vulnerable children and families with care, dignity, and hope. We warmly invite you to support this cause by standing with us in prayer, solidarity, and concern for those most in need. Together, we can help create lasting change in young lives.

“We have pity on the people, especially the hundred millions of Indians, who have not yet found a missionary Congregation for their liberation. We have compassion on the plight of the children, the Indian widows and we hasten to bring to them the living and the life giving bread of the soul in the Word and in the Sacred Host.”
