Religious formation is the journey of discovering God’s call and learning to live the spirit, mission, and values of the Congregation. It helps a young woman grow in prayer, community living, human maturity, and missionary commitment so she can follow Christ more closely and joyfully.

STAGES OF FORMATION

CANDIDATURE

A time to explore the call and get to know the SRA Congregation through visits, guidance, and simple participation in community life.

ORIENTATION

The Candidate lives with the Sisters for a period to understand the lifestyle, prayer, and mission more closely and prepare for formal formation

POSTULANCY

A formal beginning of Religious Formation where the young Candidate learns basic spiritual practices, community living, and the SRA charism. Postulancy is for one year.

NOVITIATE

A deeper stage of prayer, study, and discernment. The Novice learns about the Vows and prepares for Consecrated Life. This canonical period of Formation is for two years.

FIRST PROFESSION

After the completion of two years of Novitiate Formation the Novice makes Temporary Vows of Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience and begins active community and mission life as a Junior Sister.

JUNIORATE

A time of growth in religious life through study, pastoral experience, and deepening commitment while preparing for final vows.

FINAL PROFESSION

A lifelong commitment to God through perpetual vows, becoming a full member of the Congregation.

ONGOING FORMATION

A continuous process of spiritual, personal, and apostolic growth throughout the sister’s life.
